Sharing Our Differences: The Gratitude Challenge
If you have been following Finding Isvara on Social Media, Instagram and Facebook, you may have noticed that we are taking part in The Gratitude Challenge hosted by Kino MacGregor and Kerri Verna, and sponsored by Yoga Pro Wheel.
I love taking part in these yoga challenges. I feel it’s a way to connect with the yoga community. The idea that people who have never tried yoga are inspired to begin a yoga practice is fascinating and encouraging. Others challenge themselves to try new postures. Posting a photo on social media may force you to step out of your comfort zone, but you may be the inspiration others need to get started.
You could say I have “online yoga friends,” people that I feel I have come to know through these daily photos and videos. These photos give me a chance to present myself during my practice and daily life. I have come to accept my physical limitations, my body, and the process of learning something new. There are those who may post a photo of what they want to you see instead of their reality. But that’s their choice and a whole different post.
Every day, each of us takes our photo of the suggested pose of the day. Nikki makes the collage and posts it. Thank you Nikki!
We are all different. Different age, different height, different weight, different body type, different amount of years practicing yoga. We live in different cities and I live in a different country. And yet we can all do the same pose. Yes, of course, it may look different on each one of us, but that is exactly the point. The same asana will look different depending on the person. Hopefully, you will see that you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else in order to practice. We are all different, inside and out.
Hope you feel inspired to join the challenge or practice yoga.
