Ask Yourself This...
Am I following my heart? Am I living the life I’ve always wanted to live? Am I being authentic? Am I healthy? Am I happy? Am I really happy?
I try to ask myself these questions on a regular basis (if you read my post “Is This True,” you’ll notice that I’m a HUGE fan of self inquiry). It’s all too easy for me to get caught up amidst my daily routines, thus forgetting why I’m walking my chosen path. At 5:30am when my alarm clock is going off, I’d much rather follow my heart back to sleep than to my yoga mat—especially as the days get shorter and the weather cools. But I don’t. Why is that?
Answering these difficult questions takes guts and an honest desire to live authentically. To live the unexamined life may feel easier and less intrusive. However, that lack of attention has a way of creeping up and raising hell. The act of regularly questioning ourselves will help to guide our lives in the right direction.
Moments of reflection can hold space for questions like this. Sometimes these questions and their answers will arise during yoga practice; you didn’t even need to ask. It doesn't matter wherever or however these questions present themselves to you. What matters is that you answer them with an open heart and mind, with the intention of self betterment.
Are you following your heart? Are you living the life you’ve always wanted to live? Are you being authentic? Are you healthy? Are you happy? Are you really happy?
